301 Stainless Steel

UNS S30100

With its chromium-nickel base, Type 301 is an austenitic alloy applicable for a variety of uses. High corrosion and abrasion resistance, forming and drawing qualities, weldability, strength and ductility make Type 301 a highly marketable product. It is hardened only by cold working, not by heat-treatment, as are all high chromium-nickel steels. It is nonmagnetic in the annealed state yet Type 301 becomes slightly magnetic with progressive cold working. Applications include aircraft parts, architectural trim, automobile trim and wheel covers, construction components, high temperature, light gauge structural members, roof drainage, thermostatic and transportation equipment.
